Sponsor's Duties
Before the Cursillo Weekend
1. Pray. Talk to God about the person, before you talk to the person about God.
2. Be thoughtful. Not everyone can or should make a Cursillo. Cursillo is not a cure all / be all for fallen away Catholics, people with physical, psychological, emotional, or marital problems.
3. Help your candidate fill out the application. If you are sponsoring a married couple, complete a separate application for each of them. Ensure that your portion of the application and the Pastor's recommendation are filled out. Parish offices are very busy places. In some instances a Priest may have more than one parish to tend to. It is recommended that you or the candidate hand carry the application to and from the Pastor. Send the completed form to the Pre-Cursillo Representatives. Please allow enough time for the application to be received, processed and approved or disapproved.
4. Transportation. It is your duty to see that the candidate has transportation to and from the Cursillo. Remain with your candidate until they are registered, then leave them in the hands of the Team.
If there is any change in the status of your candidate notify the Pre-Cursillo Representatives immediately.
During the Cursillo Weekend
1. Pray. Pray for your candidate(s), the team, and for the success of the weekend.
2. Closing. Get to the closing early enough to participate fully.
3. Availability. Make yourself available to the candidate's family for church, shopping, etc, while your candidate is attending the Cursillo.
After the Cursillo Weekend

2. Follow Up. Accompany the new Cursillista to the follow up meetings.
3. Contact. Keep in contact with the Cursillista. Show interest and concern. Encourage them to persevere in their fourth day.
